Celebrating Dance Dads at Smartt Steps

June 1, 2025

With Father’s Day approaching, we want to take a moment to shout out the amazing dance dads at Smartt Steps. Years ago, we had dancers whose dads we rarely saw—but now? Our Dance Dad gang is stronger than ever.

Showing Up & Cheering Loud

These dads aren’t just dropping off and picking up—they’re showing up, hooping and hollering, and proudly wearing the gear. They’re in the crowd, making sure their kids feel supported.

Single Dads Stepping Up

In our  programs, we have several single dads who not only sign their daughters up for dance but also take the time to learn the ropes:

  • Asking for links to order the right shoes.
  • Bringing their kids to class and making sure they’re prepared.
  • Being hands-on in a space where moms traditionally take the lead.

A Game-Changing Message

For moms, dance involvement is often built in—you’re in the dressing room, fixing hair, handling costumes. But for dads, it’s a choice—and that choice sends a powerful message:

  • I value what you value.
  • I think what you’re doing is worth my time.
  • YOU are worth my time.

That kind of support can be life-changing for a young dancer.

Dance Dads Make an Impact

When dads invest in their child’s passion for dance, it helps shape who they are and who they will become. Confidence, discipline, and determination grow stronger when a child knows their dad is in their corner.

This Father’s Day, we celebrate YOU, Dance Dads—for showing up, cheering loud, and proving that dance is for everyone.
